THERE’ S ONLY ONE WEEK REMAINING to register for the North of Boston Referral Networking event being held on Thursday May 13th in Andover.  To get more details and register (required) go to – http://nobnetworking20100513.eventbrite.com. The cost of the event is to cover the room and refreshments.

The North of Boston Referral Network was created by a small business owner (me), for small to midsize companies, and individuals north of Boston, to exchange referrals and to initiate partnerships. At present we have nearly 200 members.

My latest favorite iPhone app is Siri. It caught my attention when I read an article that Apple snatched them up. So far I’m thrilled with the app. It’s now my go to app when I have a question on the road.

The app bills itself as a personal assistant.  You speak or type a request and Siri will search for the answer.  For instance, I was recently coming back from a concert and was looking for an ice cream shop in Wenham (a place I’m not familiar with at all).  Siri went to work, first confirming it understood my question, then the gears turned for a second or two and poof, a list of ice cream shops nearby along with reviews and directions!

The location aware app handles requests for flight times, restaurant reservations, taxis, directions, and all kinds of other things that a mobile professional would benefit from immensely. Of course all these features are available in other apps, but Siri pulls it all together under one umbrella.

I highly recommend Siri and would probably pay several dollars for the app, but you don’t have to worry about that cause this app is FREE! Why are you still reading this – go get the app – http://siri.com/

The next networking event will be held in Andover on Thursday May 13th from 5:30 – 7:30. The event will be held at the Chateau, a convenient location right off Route 93, just north of 495. The cost of the event covers appetizers and the nominal cost of the room.
